About this deal

The fragrance dries down to a powdery floral and vanilla scent with the fruitiness of the blackcurrant still in the background. This is a beast of fragrance with so much depth and complexity and its just addictive and divine to smell. It is all about warm, spicy and oriental blend of black currant and star anise laying on top of a woody and balsamic vanilla. I recently picked up a new bottle and I like it even better now than back when it was first released.

I also have a decant of the vintage EDT and that projects better than my EDP but EDP lasts longer and it is definitely sweeter than the EDT. Beautiful composition, I always wanted the vintage EDP but never found it, so this new formulation will suffice. I can never pull this off unless I'm wearing a suit or am going out at night, and even then, I have to limit myself to one or two sprays max so I don't offend anyone with it's harsh, distinct smell.Exuberant, dressed in a blue tailcoat, with a heart of gold, he offers the arm to the one who wants it, seduces and does not let go. The beauty of this beast is the sum of its parts: relatively few components yet so superbly well rounded, rich and utterly unapologetic in its boldness. The opening is the best part for me, that blackcurrant and anise blend well and create a nice sexy, sort of oriental accord. I really like Super Dacob’s comparison video on YouTube titled “Yves Saint Laurent Opium Pour Homme eau de Parfum Review.

I really thought I would love Opium Pour Homme, because Jacques Cavallier is one of my favourite perfumers, and he hasn't steered me wrong yet - L'eau Bleue D'Issey and M7 are masterpieces, and I even like his more pedestrian scents.Balsamic and gourmand, like a star on the red carpet, Opium attracts attention, obeys you but at the same time keeps you in respect. Owning the EDT, I can not see for the life of me how anyone could wear an even more concentrated EDP of this sillage/projection beast better known as Opium, because folks let me tell you. He kept the bottle at work and I would often pinch a spray or two until I could bear it no more and bought my own a few weeks later. And man, this is a pretty niche scent, it's incredibly hard to pull off, don't get me wrong, it smells great, but you need to be a certain person. This fragrance just oozes character and in my opinion a kind unique melange of stylish elegance and bravado, there's something which keeps this from being more suitable for women (could still be unisex of course!
