Description

Your doors are prone to fade and weather with time owing to their exposure to sunlight and other weather conditions, just like any other exterior feature of your property. These corrosive elements might cause a door to appear worn out over time. To use Polytrol you simply rub it into the surface with a clean, dry cloth and leave it to work for 10-20 minutes before wiping off any excess with a lint-free cloth. Job done! Using a brush or lint-free cloth, apply an even, generous coat of Polytrol. Leave it work for 10-20 mins and then wipe off the excess Polytrol with a new, clean lint-free cloth and leave to dry. Clean any tools used with white spirit. Polytrol is non-flammable, however any rags, steel wool etc. soaked in Polytrol may spontaneously catch fire if improperly discarded. Rags, steel wool etc must be saturated with water after use or placed in a sealed, water-filled metal container, before disposing of them with household waste. Rags may be laid flat and air-dried before discarding. Things to Remember After cleaning, leave the door to dry for 24 hours before applying Polytrol. Make sure that your door is completely dry before moving on to the next step! 2. Apply the Polytrol

When doors are closed correctly, there is a chance that the centre of the door will only be held in place by the latch, allowing the top and bottom parts of the door to swell or warp in the heat. You can save money long-term by throwing the handle every time you shut the door! Martin Lewis: Do you have a Power of Attorney? It’s crucial protection – not just for the elderly – and more important than a will For the final step, you should use beeswax or another similar product to give your newly painted door a protective layer for the materials and a professional finish. Use a brush or a cloth to liberally apply Polytrol. If you notice that some bits are looking shiny and others are looking matt, move any of the surplus oil over to the matt areas. The best way to fix this issue is by adjusting the hinges on the door frame. Start by removing all existing screws from the hinges and then inserting new ones that are slightly longer. This will help create a tighter fit for the door and should stop any warping or bowing. You may also need to add additional weather stripping around the edges of the door if there are still gaps present after adjusting the hinges. Dropped hinges: All surfaces must be clean, dry and free of dirt, grease, grime and mildew. All waxes, polishes, silicone etc. should be completely and thoroughly removed. Treat any mildew with a 50:50 bleach and water solution. Scrub the solution on to the surface and allow it to stand for 10-15 minutes then rinse thoroughly. Using Polytrol on plastic, gelcoat, tiles, painted surfaces etc. Do not allow excess Polytrol to dry and create a film on the surface (always remove excess product).
