Two, in the six decades I’ve been exploring these ideas, and many others, often using the lens of mythology to focus my work, I’ve found that there are countless stories of lives that point the way to a kind of profound satisfaction that only comes when we transcend running on the economic treadmill. So what’s it all about? The materialistic world says you need to consume more goods, take more holidays, and seek more entertainment. But psychologists and psychotherapists report that when their clients devote themselves to these things they somehow find them unfulfilling and that a great deal of spiritual need is buried in the inner lives of these individuals. Entertainment Weekly gave the film a "B−", praising the actresses and Law, but also noting "Jude Law would appear to have all the attributes of a movie star: looks, humor, rogue charm. Yet there's one he could use more of — an anger that might ignite his smooth presence." [9] Now some have indeed transcended this cycle, and as I’ve said even found a way to wealth via their profound expression as they live their lives. A a vast majority of times these folks have started with an idea to release themselves to their deep passions and the creativity that pours forth from that release. Then again, often working tirelessly to develop and manifest the expression of that passion and creativity, they found themselves rewarded in ways that even exceeded their sometimes enormous expectations. We can find a common traits in these lives, in story and in fact … they live in what I’ve begun to call a space that exists beyond the state of flow, where the synchronicity between the desire to create and the ability to achieve the creation you desire chase one another in a looping Möbius strip of delight. Roger Ebert enjoyed the film, praising Law's performance and saying that "on its own terms, it's funny at times and finally sad and sweet." [8] It has now been 14 years since I lost that job in 2009, and I never did find another job. And that is what started me writing on my blog that I created on WordPress in the summer of 2010. It started off as an effort to understand why I couldn’t find work, but after the first year I gave up on that topic, and it turned into what is now over 800 posts on a variety of topics written from a Christian perspective, and I am still publishing on it.The View's Sunny Hostin Suggests Trump Is Using Racist "Dog Whistles" When He Confuses Biden And Obama: "That's What's Happening" Myth offers us a way to learn from the experience of others without enduring the pain and suffering they paid to get the lessons that their myth offers us now. Barry from Sauquoit, NyOn July 24th 1966, "Alfie" by Cher entered Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart at position #62; and on August 21st, 1966 it peaked at #32 (for 1 week) and spent 6 weeks on the Top 100... The film inspired The Divine Comedy's Becoming More Like Alfie, which samples its opening dialogue in its introduction.

When we think about all the most esteemed individuals in the chronicles of human history who are the most esteemed? I’d argue strongly that the wealthy do not fall into this category, even when we are amazed at their success in attaining enormous wealth. In fact some of the most infamous and despised characters in history were amongst the wealthiest as their stories are told. Alfie is a 1966 British comedy-drama film directed by Lewis Gilbert and starring Michael Caine. The Paramount Pictures release was adaptated from the 1963 play of the same name by Bill Naughton. Following its premiere at the Plaza Theatre in the West End of London on 24 March 1966, the film became a box office success, enjoying critical acclaim, and influencing British cinema. Joy Behar Calls On Will Smith To "Get In The Ring" With Jada Pinkett Smith On 'The View': "He Sits There And Takes It" To choose a life of expression over accumulation requires a rejection of the messages installed and inculcated to induce you to join in the toil of production for the sake of production, and often unwittingly for the benefit of providing others with the best and most desirable fruits of your labor. This game has been the mainstay of a certain class of humans since the beginning of recorded history, a history of enslavement and production for the benefit of the ruling class, the nobles, who place themselves above others, and claimed to be their betters .. all the while requiring and demanding servitude with little or no reward for the sometimes profound expressions of value that their “lessers” provided.I would suggest asking ‘What’s it all about?’ reveals an awareness that somewhere there is a deeper purpose to one’s life. Something higher than self-orientated desires for fame, power, status, pleasure. The majority of Americans who insist that “cancel culture” is a problem and the minority who counter that it is a fraud, a myth, or a moral panic are too often talking past one another. In 1994, Whitney Houston performed the song on select dates during her Bodyguard Tour, and her 1997 HBO televised concert, Classic Whitney: Live from Washington, D.C.. This idea, using yourself in the service of some unique expression which calls to you, has been referred to in many ways … living artistically, seeking mastery, striving for creativity … but, I’d like to simply call out that it may be a drive to achieve satisfaction, the satisfaction that we have come to know ourselves well enough to know what satisfies us beyond the need or desire for anything more than the act we engage in itself. Even when that act entails the realization of an outcome, the pursuit of that outcome provides reward to those who live in this way unto itself.

Sure every organism seems to want to live, survive and thrive, taking what it needs to do so from its environment … food, water, for those that need it, shelter. They will fight not to be eaten or deprived of access to resources, and many will fight for their kind, especially in some cases, their young. Following repeated failures to achieve an erection, Alfie sees a doctor, who tells him he is perfectly healthy, and his impotence is due to stress. However, he finds a lump on Alfie's penis. They immediately run a test at the clinic and he spends a few anxious days awaiting the results. On a trip to the hospital, Alfie meets Joe, a widower, in the bathroom. Joe gives life advice to the depressed Alfie: "Find somebody to love, and live every day like it's your last". Soon afterward, Alfie finds out he's cancer-free.
